Web Design Strengths

  • X/HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Javascript.
  • Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and various FTP applications for website management and page creation.
    Page editing is done mostly in codeview and can hand-code when necessary or convenient. Understanding of DocTypes, valid coding, HTML, XHTML and CSS. Can script forms using either server
    side, via PHP or other, or client side validation with Javascript. Have installed numerous packaged
    scripts for forums, content management, blogs & etc.
  • Use of PHP to communicate with MySQL databases, scripting of administration areas utilizing sessions.
  • Photoshop to create page graphics and image editing utilizing layers and filters with attention given
    to resulting image filesizes.
  • Fireworks to create DHTML menus and image maps.
  • Flash to create banner ads and navigational elements utilizing the timeline, layers, and coding
    with Actionscript for program control or Interoperability.
  • Acrobat to create PDF files for use on the web generated from formatted Word documents.
  • Security concerns are always a consideration and, when necessary, I can utilize multiple means,
    including .htaccess hacks, server side scripting, etc, to block IP addresses or bad robots, to prevent
    site harvesting, image hot-linking, or to generate email alerts.
  • Documentation and consistent formatting is maintained throughout all coding.
  • Management of multiple domain names, hosting services & MySQL databases.
Personal Web Accomplishments
2007. Created a MySQL database and page template for Stevens Design Studio used on the Strathmore Artist Papers website (strathmoreartist.com). The template, used on 21 paper product pages, writes the series and format tables getting data from the database. An administation area was also created allowing Strathmore administrators to easily add, remove and modify series and format data.
2006. Major upgrade of the Photography by Duval website with considerable use of PHP, Javascript, and CSS positioning. (duvalphoto.com)
2005. Development of the Life Events Database using PHP & MySQL for events & images on brivers.com (brivers.com/ledb/lehome.htm). Allows for login, user & event administration, permissions, logs.

2004. A major overhaul of the Screenshots site (screenshotsforwindows.net) to support paid-
membership was accomplished requiring conversion of 1400+ pages to PHP. Installed aMember Pro
to manage membership subscriptions and interact with PayPal for payments. Currently there are
over 2400 pages supporting 2200 images.
