Origin of brivers.com
The original site was created on AOL webspace in 1998 and featured only my wildflower pictures. Because of limitations with AOL, brivers.com went live in Aug 1999. brivers.com was a place to experiment and learn, and wildflowers (a sub-domain) grew as I was taking quite a few pictures back then.
A little history
In Sep 2000, I started working at RCN supporting dialup customers (and later, broadband customers). Two additional sub-domains, Screenshots for Windows and the UA Site (UA for Universal Agent) were created to make my job easier. Both work sites caught on quickly at my call-center, then at other RCN call-centers, and before long, the Screenshots site was getting hits from other call-centers in the US and overseas.
In Dec 2003, the Wildflowers site was move onto its own server as wildflowersandbutterflies.com. Three months later, the Screenshots site was moved into its own space as screenshotsforwindows.net. Both sites were converted to PHP for numerous reasons and the Screenshots site took 3 weeks to convert its, at the time, nearly 1400 pages.
brivers.com today
brivers.com has become the site for my personal stuff. It contains my resume, Flash samples, web design information, and is my little portal to the internet. It's the place to experiment with Flash, CSS, ready-made scripts (bulletin boards, content management, etc), and PHP/MySQL. Basically, new things are tried here before implementation on my other sites.
